At the helm of the band is lead guitarist and vocalist Gerry Schaefer, whose striking resemblance to Tom Petty – both in voice and appearance – has earned him widespread recognition. Gerry Schaefer
A longtime fixture in the Southern Ontario music scene, Gerry has spent decades recording, touring, and collaborating with respected artists across rock, roots, and folk. From opening for Blue Rodeo and Big Sugar to fronting original projects and high-energy cover bands, he brings seasoned musicianship and creative depth to every stage. Beyond music, Gerry is also an accomplished writer and photographer based in Hamilton.

Shane Tunney
A veteran GTA guitarist with over 30 years of experience, Shane blends jazz, blues, funk, and country into a dynamic and expressive style. A Mohawk College jazz graduate, he has performed in countless bands, session projects, and film soundtracks. In Highway Companion, Shane channels the tasteful precision and tone that defined Mike Campbell’s iconic guitar work.

Glen Booth
A graduate of Mohawk College’s music program, Glen has been a mainstay of the Southern Ontario music scene for over 35 years. He has toured North America with numerous acclaimed tribute and show bands, including a residency at Legends in Concert in Las Vegas and performances as far as Korea. With deep roots in classic rock, blues, jazz, and early rock ’n’ roll, Glen brings seasoned versatility and a lifelong passion for guitar to every stage.

Ron Velenosi
Born and raised in Hamilton, Ron has been performing since his first paid gig at age 12. From touring North America in show bands to recording award-nominated country albums, his career spans decades of rock, country, and Celtic projects. A rock-solid bassist with deep roots in the live circuit, Ron brings experience, groove, and stage presence to Highway Companion.

DJay Moons
Originally from Sarnia and long connected to the Hamilton music scene, D.Jay has performed with numerous folk and Celtic acts while serving as a keyboardist and vocalist. Now based near London, Ontario, he provides rich keys and harmonies for Highway Companion. Offstage, he’s an avid builder and passionate gardener.

Dave Simpson
An in-demand drummer across jazz, pop/rock, and music theatre, Dave has built a versatile and dynamic career both on stage and in the studio. After touring with east coast favourites The Bushmill Minstrels, he spent three years in Toronto performing in Second City’s hit production Toni & Tina’s Wedding. A sought-after collaborator, Dave has played with numerous regional artists and is a regular on Hamilton stages — including the weekly jazz jam at Corktown Pub.
